Rollercoaster Tester

We are seeking a conscientious, detail-oriented, and physically capable team member to perform thorough testing, inspection, and reporting for our rollercoaster fleet. Responsibilities – Ride Testing, Safety Inspections, and Operational Reporting
- Conduct pre-operational and post-operational inspections of rollercoaster tracks, trains, restraints, braking systems, and associated ride infrastructure in line with company procedures and regulatory standards.
- Perform dynamic test runs under controlled conditions to evaluate ride performance, smoothness, g-forces, restraint function, and emergency systems.
- Accurately record test data, measurements, observations, and any anomalies using provided documentation and reporting systems.
- Identify, report, and escalate safety concerns or mechanical faults to maintenance and engineering teams, supporting follow-up investigations and remedial actions.
- Assist in routine maintenance tasks, swapping test equipment, and verifying completed repairs through repeat testing as required.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and safety colleagues to develop and update test protocols, checklists, and risk assessments.
- Support emergency response drills and contribute to continuous improvement of safety procedures and incident prevention measures.
- Communicate test results and safety recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Skills for Successful Rollercoaster Testers
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to detect subtle changes in ride behaviour and mechanical performance.
- Practical mechanical aptitude and basic understanding of ride systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and control equipment.
- Excellent observational, recording, and analytical skills to produce clear, reliable reports.
- Ability to work collaboratively across operations, engineering, and safety teams.
- Calmness under pressure, adaptability, and good judgement when responding to unexpected situations.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written, to liaise with colleagues and document findings effectively.
Essential Qualifications and Requirements
- Previous experience in ride testing, mechanical inspection, engineering support, or a related technical role is desirable.
- Relevant qualification in engineering, mechanical maintenance, or a technical apprenticeship is a plus.
- Understanding of health and safety legislation, risk assessment, and safe systems of work applicable to amusement rides.
- Right to work in the UK and willingness to undergo background checks and medical screening as required.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early starts, evenings, and weekends, and to participate in on-call rotas when necessary.
- Physically fit and comfortable working at height, in confined spaces, and in all weather conditions when required.
